Chair of the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Lithuania Participates in a Conference on the Application of Artificial Intelligence in the Justice System
The Chair of the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Lithuania, Dr. Gabrielė Juodkaitė-Granskienė, is participating in the conference “Justice, Fundamental Rights and Artificial Intelligence” taking place in Brussels.
The conference addresses the impact of artificial intelligence on courts, the justice system, the protection of fundamental rights, and public governance in Europe, emphasizing that AI is already a reality. Therefore, the key objective is to ensure its responsible, transparent, and human rights–compliant application through training, discussions, and effective human oversight. The event brings together judges, academics, and representatives of EU institutions and international organizations.
“This conference provides a valuable opportunity to gain comprehensive insight into the challenges and best practices related to the application of artificial intelligence in the field of justice in Europe. The expert perspectives and judges’ experiences presented here enable a deeper understanding of fundamental rights and data protection, as well as future regulatory directions, which are highly relevant both for Lithuanian courts and for the modern legal system as a whole,” stated Dr. Gabrielė Juodkaitė-Granskienė.
