The publication of the Supreme Court of Latvia, The Bulletin of the Supreme Court, presents a report by the President of the Supreme Court of Lithuania, Dr. Danguolė Bublienė, delivered at the international conference held in October 2025, titled “Publicity of Court Proceedings, Privacy, and the Media – The Art of Balancing Interests.”

The conference was organized by the Supreme Court of Latvia in cooperation with the European Court of Human Rights. Dr. D. Bublienė spoke on the principle of open justice and its relation to personal data protection, emphasizing the need to ensure a balance between the public’s right to access information and the protection of privacy, while also considering the standards established by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In the publication, Dr. D. Bublienė is listed among other speakers from various European courts who participated in the discussion, which is regarded as a particularly important means of promoting judicial cooperation in the European context. Participation in such events highlights the role of the Supreme Court of Lithuania in cooperating with other European courts and its commitment to ensuring that national judicial practice aligns with the standards set forth in the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights.

Additionally, the publication reviews a visit by judicial clerks from the Baltic States to the Supreme Court of Lithuania, during which discussions were held on the organization of a judicial clerk’s work—from the stage of accepting a cassation appeal to the announcement of the decision—and experiences were shared regarding the effective use of digital tools in the daily work of courts.
