Chairperson of the Criminal Division participated in a meeting of the ENCJ

On April 24, the Executive Board meeting of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ) took place at the High Judicial Council of Portugal. Gabrielė Juodkaitė-Granskienė, Chairperson of the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Lithuania and member of the Judicial Council, participated in the meeting.
The first part of the meeting focused on the situation of judges in Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Romania in light of threats to the independence of judges and courts, as well as the situation in Estonia regarding the establishment of a Judicial Council.
Organizational issues related to the upcoming General Assembly of the ENCJ, which will take place in Riga on June 4–6, were also presented.
In the second part, dedicated to the preparation of the 2026–2029 strategy of the ENCJ, changes in the institution's vision and mission and the resulting main strategic directions for the near future were discussed.
The next meeting of the Executive Board will take place on the 4th of July at the Supreme Court of Lithuania.
