Meeting with the European judges at the Supreme Court of Lithuania

On the 13th of September, the Supreme Court of Lithuania hosted judges from the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) exchange program. The delegation of thirteen judges from Italy, Germany, France, Croatia, Austria, Romania, Poland and Spain was welcomed by the Chairperson of the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Lithuania Gabrielė Juodkaitė-Granskienė, judge Goda Ambrasaitė-Balynienė, and judge's assistant Diana Šataitytė-Molienė.
During the meeting judges were introduced to the structure of the Supreme Court of Lithuania and the practice of selection of cassation appeals and examination of cases. The issues of relevance to foreign representatives concerning the exclusivity of the cassation court's functions and the development of uniform practice were also discussed.
The EJTN exchange program aims to learn and exchange views on the different national judicial systems, strengthen mutual trust among judges and better understand the European dimension of their work.
