Positive Experience of the Supreme Court of Lithuania– inspiration for the Ukrainian Judicial Reform

Delegation from the Supreme Court of Ukraine led by the President Yaroslav Romaniuk this week visits Supreme Court of Lithuania. Judges of the Supreme Court of Ukraine are interested in best practices of Lithuania and in changes which were done improving Lithuanian’s judicial system.


The quests were greeted by the President of the Supreme Court of Lithuania. Wishing for efficient visit Rimvydas Norkus pointed out that the law enforcement in Lithuania recently has gone through difficult reforms as Ukraine too. “Positive changes are already visible today: the courts have become more open and transparent, the duration of procedure before the courts are constantly getting shorter,
trust in courts is higher than mistrust. We are ready to help to Ukraine by sharing best practices, reforming the courts, advising and providing all necessary information” - stressed in his speech Rimvydas Norkus.

Representative from the Supreme Court of Ukraine are interested in our country’s judicial system, the principles governing the operation of courts and Lithuania’s experience in carrying out reforms aimed at improving judicial activities. Much discussed about the ethics of judges and self-governing institutions which oversees compliance with judicial ethics.


 
During the visit Ukraine's Supreme Court delegation will meet with the President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite, they will also visit Seimas, the Constitutional Court of Lithuanian, Court of Appeal of Lithuania and other courts of Lithuania.
