On the occasion of the 20^th anniversary of Lithuania’s membership in the European Union, an International Scientific Conference “The Republic of Lithuania in the European Union: Twenty Years of Experience, Challenges and Growth” was organized on the 24^th of May by the Law Faculty of Vilnius University. 

The President of the Court of Justice of the European Union Prof. Dr. Koen Lenaerts gave a presentation at the event on "Becoming a Member of the European Union: a Constitutional Moment". The conference was attended by a large number of speakers: foreign scholars, judges of international and European courts, presidents of Lithuanian courts, lecturers of the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University, and others.

The conference covered three topics: membership and values of the European Union, a closer look into several areas of European integration, and the future of the European Union. The President of the Supreme Court of Lithuania Assoc. Prof. Dr. Danguolė Bublienė gave a presentation on “The Impact of the Interpretation of the Principle of Effectiveness in the Case-law of the Court of Justice of the European Union on National Courts’ Jurisprudence”.
