This year marks the 30th anniversary of the cassation jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of Lithuania. This is a special occasion for the entire Lithuanian legal system, with numerous events planned to celebrate it, which are also being highlighted abroad.

On June 8–10, the President of the Supreme Court of Lithuania, Danguolė Bublienė, participated in the Conference of Chief Justices, which took place in Albania. There, the President of the Supreme Court delivered a presentation on "Challenges in ensuring unified interpretation of the law by the Supreme Courts", illustrating her remarks mainly with examples from Lithuania and some other countries.

At other sessions of this forum, representatives of the supreme courts presented several more reports, followed by an exchange of views on how society trusts the courts, the relationship between national and international jurisdiction, the speed of case processing, and the use of digital tools to ensure effective justice.

The main event commemorating the anniversary of the cassation jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of Lithuania will take place on September 4–5 in Vilnius. The international conference “Ensuring Uniform Judicial Practice: Forms and Challenges”, organized by the Supreme Court of Lithuania and the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University, in cooperation with the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania, and the Baltic-American Freedom Foundation will mark this special occasion. Legal experts and practitioners from Lithuania, Europe, and the United States will share their insights at the conference.

In autumn, representatives of the Supreme Court will present the development of the cassation function of the Supreme Court of Lithuania and current topical issues at the Joint Nordic-Baltic Supreme Court President Meeting in Finland and at the conference “Right to a fair trial: European Convention on Human Rights in dialogue of national courts and the ECtHR” organized by the Supreme Court of Latvia.
