Today at the Supreme Court of Lithuania, the President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda met with the judges and employees of this court.

The head of the country congratulated Judge Danguolė Bublienė, who took up the duties of the President of the Court today. "I greatly appreciate the trust given to me and the opportunity given to me as the President of the Court to accept the challenges arising in the Court's daily activities, to contribute to the improvement of the Court's activities and increase of trust in the Court with the available knowledge and experience," said the new President of the Court.

During the discussion, issues relevant not only to the Supreme Court, but also to the entire judicial system were discussed: court financing, judges' and other employees' salaries, the prestige of the judge's position, the clarity of court decisions, the importance of informing the public about them, etc. "Judges' salaries must be competitive and attractive to highly qualified lawyers. Adequate remuneration of a judge is, first of all, a guarantee of judicial independence, and justice administered by independent courts is the foundation of the state," the President emphasized.

The meeting was crowned by a joint photo of the President and the Court community.
