The Supreme Court of Lithuania welcomes a delegation from the Supreme Court of Ukraine
On the 25th of October, the President of the Supreme Court of Lithuania, the Chairpersons of the Criminal and Civil Divisions, and the judges of the Supreme Court of Lithuania welcomed a delegation from the Supreme Court of Ukraine.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Stanislav Kravchenko, judges Ian Bernaziuk, Myroslava Bilak, Olena Hubska, Vasyl Krat, Pavlo Parkhomenko, Olha Stupak, the First Deputy Head of the Staff and Head of the Department of Analytical and Legal Work, Rasim Babanly, the Head of Division, Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights at the Council of Europe, Pavlo Pushkar.
The President of the Supreme Court of Lithuania, Danguolė Bublienė, assured that the Lithuanian society, as well the community of judges, support Ukraine and its judiciary in this particularly difficult period for Ukraine. The fact that our Courts can meet at this time to discuss issues of concern and share experiences is of great value to both sides.
Representatives of the Supreme Courts of Lithuania and Ukraine presented their courts, the principles of functioning of the judicial systems, and recent developments, highlighting the current and upcoming challenges of the judicial systems. The Supreme Court of Ukraine shared its experience during the war: how the Court transformed its work at the outbreak of the war, how the Court managed to adapt to the changing situation, and how the legal system is functioning in Ukraine today. The representatives of the Courts confirmed that cooperation at the level of both judges and judicial administration in sharing good practices is effective and should be further developed in a form that meets the needs of both countries. The Supreme Court of Lithuania promised to continue to assist the Supreme Court of Ukraine fully in the process of Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
