Dr. Danguolė Bublienė participated in a meeting of the Network held in The Hague. The annual Network meeting was also attended by representatives of the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice.

During the Network’s General Assembly, which took place as part of the meeting, the President of the Supreme Court of Lithuania, Dr. Danguolė Bublienė, was elected to the Network’s new Board.

“The opportunity to serve on the Board of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union is a significant recognition, as well as an important commitment. It entails a responsibility to consistently and diligently defend and foster our shared European values, to strengthen the culture of judicial cooperation among the Member States, and to pursue the highest standards of justice and transparency,” stated Dr. D. Bublienė.

At the colloquium of the Network meeting held on 13–15 November, the Presidents of the courts discussed the contribution of international and national courts and tribunals to ensuring the rule of law. Discussions were also held on the role of national courts in adjudicating international crimes, as well as on the topic of social networks, their impact on court communication, and their influence on judicial independence.

The Network brings together the supreme courts of 35 countries, promoting professional discussions and the exchange of ideas, organising annual colloquia to consider scholarly and practical analyses (studies) prepared by Network members on topical issues, and serving as a forum in which European institutions are given the opportunity to seek the opinions of supreme courts.
